My Morning Green Juice Recipe
For the past year or so, I’ve gotten into the habit of drinking a giant green juice for breakfast. I started doing it for a cleanse, but I quickly discovered that it felt pretty great to knock out 3 servings of vegetables by 9 a.m., so I stuck with it, and it’s been an easy way for me to start the day off on the right foot.
Now I will say, this is primarily a vegetable juice—not a fruit juice, so if you’re used to super sweet smoothies, it will take a little getting used to. That being said, the pineapple gives it the little bit of sweetness that it needs to balance out the bitterness of the greens.
Here’s my morning green juice recipe:
Danne’s Morning Green Juice Recipe
8 oz. coconut water
2 mini cucumbers
3 stalks celery
1 handful leafy greens like kale or spinach
3/4 cup frozen pineapple
Splash of water (or more)
I’ve found that it’s best to put the liquid in the blender first, then the solids, then anything frozen on top. You can add more or less liquid too based on the consistency that you’re looking for. I also typically toss some seeds in for added nutrients. Note though that chia seeds will make the juice fairly thick. Flax seeds are usually my go-to.
And yes, I have a Vitamix, and yes, it is amazing and 100% worth the investment. It blends everything to oblivion, which is great, because I love kale, but no one wants floating chunks of kale in their juice.
Cheers!
